Advancement teams spend tremendous amounts of time, energy, and resources on promoting events, activities, campaigns, solicitations, receptions, giving days, etc.
Promoting and marketing is so ubiquitous in advancement, it can be difficult to accurately assess the amount of staff energy and effort, the design time, the printing and mail costs that go into promotions and marketing.
Meanwhile, we know that the most efficient and effective way to motivate people to:
- Show up;
- Participate;
- Engage;
- Volunteer, and, yes,
- Give
. . . is to have someone they know and trust invite them.
Many advancement teams pour significant resources into promoting, while simultaneously spending far less time identifying, strategizing, and engaging promoters.
We are doing advancement work well when we are working with and through others.
