Gift officers want to help donors make a gift that will transform lives. It can feel daunting or overwhelming sometimes to think of just the right phrase to use when inviting your prospects and donors to give. Even after all the time spent in cultivation, and all the research you’ve done to make sure it’s the right project, the right time, and the right amount, you can still struggle with saying the words effectively to express the value to the mission and the impact their gift will make.
Developing deep donor relationships over time and using a prospect management process to bring the donor closer to your institution are part of the critical work it takes to move them into a position to give a gift. An additional part of this work, though, is the way in which you invite the gift. This conversation with the prospect and their family is incredibly important and takes genuine intent to be effective. What you say can be as important as how they respond.
In this Gonser Gerber Institute webinar, presented by partner Jason McNeal, Ph.D., we will review the most effective approaches in inviting major gifts. If you are regularly talking with prospects and donors about major gifts, this webinar is for you!
