Stewardship as a Strategy: Turning Gratitude into Growth

Stewardship is not the end of your donor’s journey—it is the launchpad for what comes next. Too often, organizations reduce stewardship to a polite “thank you.” However, when done with purpose, meaningful stewardship strengthens relationships, builds long-term donor confidence, and inspires ongoing, increased support.

In this On Demand Webinar, Pam Spencer, senior consultant at Gonser Gerber, will show you how to make stewardship a driving force in your advancement program. You’ll learn why stewardship should be embedded throughout the donor journey—not just after a gift—and how to cultivate a culture of gratitude that fuels both the donor journey and your mission’s success.

Whether you are part of a large advancement team or a small shop juggling multiple roles, this session will use data, real-life examples, and actionable strategies to help you reimagine stewardship as a catalytic approach to deepening donor engagement and investment.

You’ll learn:

  • How stewardship strengthens donor retention, lifetime value, and advocacy.
  • How to move from a one-time thank-you to a full stewardship cycle.
  • How to use acknowledgment, gratitude, recognition, impact reporting, and deeper engagement as distinct stewardship strategies.
  • How to build stewardship into an annual calendar.
  • How recognition societies and personalized recognition can create belonging.

How to make stewardship a shared responsibility across the institution.
