Congratulations on your new role as Vice President for Advancement! In this position, you will be responsible for working with your president, board of trustees, and other volunteer boards. You will also oversee a staff of development directors and constituent engagement officers, manage a major gift portfolio, and increase fundraising results all while managing your departmental budget, overseeing the marketing functions for your institution, working with others across your institution, developing policy, launching a campaign… and the list goes on.

This Gonser Gerber Virtual Workshop for New Vice Presidents in the advancement and development profession is designed to support new leaders during their first few years on the job. Led by experienced practitioners, Jason McNeal, partner, and Meredith Brunen, senior consultant, our virtual workshop will help you focus your time and effort for maximum success, and will provide a road map for your on-boarding in this new position. You will also learn from your peers and develop a network with other new Vice Presidents.
Together we will build the skills needed to succeed in these critical early years through hands-on, collaborative sessions that cover:
- Working with and supporting your president, board of trustees, and senior leaders including other vice presidents and the CFO.
- Best practices for budget management and making the case for expanded resources.
- Planning for the success of your advancement team, including fundraising performance.
- Prioritizing and managing your time so that you can also successfully manage your portfolio.
- Preparing for common challenges and sharing experiences from the trenches- all while expanding your professional network.
This workshop is designed for vice presidents in advancement/development who have less than three years of experience in their role or who are new to their institution. Attendance is limited so that we can build a cohort atmosphere with fluid dialogue and personalized learning. Please come prepared to participate and ask questions.
Registration
The fee for this one-day, Virtual Workshop is $595 for the first registrant and $495 for each additional person from your institution. Current clients of Gonser Gerber consulting get a discounted rate of $495 per person. Attendance is limited to 14 people.
