Greg King joins Gonser Gerber as Senior Consultant, providing advancement consulting services to higher education institutions and independent schools, healthcare systems, cultural, social service, and other non-profit organizations. His areas of focus include advancement; alumni relations; annual, capital, major and planned gift programs; strategic planning and visioning; campaign planning and execution; admissions; and other aspects of institutional advancement.
Advancement and Executive Experience:
Greg King has worked at the University of Mount Union for more than 30 years in positions of increasing responsibility in areas ranging from student affairs and recruitment to diversity and advancement. Since 2008, he has served as Vice President for University Advancement and member of the University’s Leadership Team.
The majority of Greg’s professional career has been spent working in two revenue-generating areas on campus: Advancement and Admission. Under Greg’s leadership, Mount Union successfully completed two comprehensive campaigns, raising a total of $114 million. During his eight-year tenure as Director of Admissions, the institution recruited record classes six out of those eight years.
Currently, he is leading a five-year, $50 million comprehensive campaign to support capital projects, scholarships, and the University’s endowment with $46 million secured to date. Greg is also leading an effort to diversify the Board of Trustees to include increased representation of racial, ethnic, and gender diversity.
Greg has been selected to participate in the AGB Institute for Leadership & Governance in Higher Education which prepares participants who aspire to higher education presidencies. He has taught freshman-level courses and served as an Academic Advisor to undergraduate students and Staff Advisor to the Black Student Union. A recipient of the Stark County Ohio Contemporary Trailblazer Award, he also has mentored countless minority students throughout their college and professional careers.
In addition to Greg’s role at the University of Mount Union, he will serve as consultant to a limited number of clients for Gonser Gerber.
